Tilicho Lake Trek is also one of the famous religious places of Nepal which lies in the Annapurna region. The main focus of this trek is a visit to Tilicho Lake. It is a fantastic journey along the famous Annapurna region which is one of the highest Lakes in the world. The lake collects the glacial melt of the full northern slopes of Annapurna and Thorang peak. This lake is high Himalayan Lake that is born directly from towering peaks and glaciers. The place is rich with the wider range of the people and terrain, subtropical to high, dry landscape resembling the Tibetan plateau and other major attractions of this trekking is the eye-catching view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This trip also include Upper Mustang trek time of the trekking period. The major ethical groups to be visited in this trekking are Magar, Gurung, Bhotia, Thakali, and Managis with distinct socio-economic and cultural background.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 02: Drive to Chamje (1,410m) 6-7 hrs

Day 03: Trek from Chamje to Dharapani (1,960m) 5 – 6 hrs

Day 04: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m) 5 – 6 hrs

Day 05: Chame to Pisang (3,300m) 5 – 6 hrs

Day 06:  Pisang to Manang (3,500m) 6 – 7 hrs

Day 07: Manang to Khangsar (3745m) 2-3 hrs

Day 08: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4140m) 5-6 hrs

Day 09: Visit Tilicho Lake (4,949m) then trek back to base camp 5-6 hrs

Day 10:  Tilicho Base Camp to Yak Kharka (4040m) 4-5 hrs

Day 11: Yak kharka to Thorang Phedi (4420m) 3-4 hrs

Day 12: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (5416m) 7 – 8 hrs

Day 13: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m) 5-6 hrs

Day 14: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (823m) 30mins

Day 15: drive Kathmandu from Pokhara

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

After arriving in Kathmandu, a representative from Journey Nepal Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to our hotel cheek in the Hotel.  After getting refresh and briefing about the trip.  Welcome dinner hosted by Journey Nepal Adventure. For dinner, you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu to Besishar to Jagat (1,300m/4265ft) 6 - 7 hours

Starting Annapurna Circuit Trek with a tourist standard bus drive on Nepal’s interesting highway to reach Besisahar, journey leads past many farms, villages and towns with views of mountains.

The drive finally ends on reaching Besisahar again transport to Jagat by jeep  Over night at Jagat in nice tea house/ludge.

Day 03: Jagat to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft) 7-8 hours

Today, we will start our trekking  journey to Dharapani. We resume our journey following the ever flowing river Marsyangdi to the beautiful valley called Taal. With every step, we are getting closer to Manang district through the pine forest and the cultivated fields. We will be finally at Dharapani. Over night at Dharapan

Day 04: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft) 5 - 6 hours

This day walk leads through cool rhododendron and pine forest passing Bagachap and Danque villages to reach Timang village into more Buddhist area, with super view of Mt. Manaslu, crossing the timang village trek continue few hours Chame, a major town and headquarter of Manang district, Over night at Chame.

Day 05: Chame to Pisang (3,300m/10824ft) 5 - 6 hours

After have a hot breakfast, onward air gets cooler leading close to mountains with beautiful forest of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream to Bhratang village pass through apple farm .

From here uphill into pine trees to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few lodge and views of Chulu mountain view  and Pisang peak, after a lunch genteel walk to Pisang village where have two Pisang Village (upper Pisang and lower Pisang) Over night at lower Pisang.

Day 06: Pisang to Manang 6 - 7 hours

 Manang valley offering mountains views as altitude gains from here onward.

Walking into forest with short uphill with views of Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu and Pisang peak, then reaching Hongde village with a small air strip, from here tree lines fades to barren, arid landscapes.

On route Manang village visit old Braga monastery with Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting, frescos and super panorama of Annapurna Himalaya,

Over night at Manang Village.

Day 07: Manang to Khangsar (3745m) 3-4 hrs

 Today From Manang trek  to Khangsar village. We will take the descending way which will leads us to the suspension bridges over Marshyangdi River. We will continue move towards the Khangsar Khola and cross the bridge and reach to Khansar village this is also the beautiful village of this route. Over night at Khangsar.

Day 08: Khangsar to Tilicho Base Camp (4140m) 5-6 hrs

After the hot breakfast, we will move toward the beautiful valley of Khangsar.  We will move toward the Tilicho Lake enjoying the natural things presented there through the main trail to complete our objectives. Over at Tilicho Base Camp.

Day 09: Visit Tilicho Lake (4,949m) then trek back to base camp via Khangsar  8-9 hrs

 Today we start our journey early in the morning. We will spend some time at Tilicho Lake exploring around the lake. We will surely enjoy the cold breeze coming from the snow.  Trek down Base Camp and trek continue to Khansar over night at Khangsar.

Day 10: Khangsar  to Yak Kharka (4040m) 4-5 hrs

Some of the fellow trekkers get attracted by the absolute beauty of Khangsar, continue our way towards the yak kharka from Manang. The way goes through the Thorung la pass.

Day 11: Yak Kharka to Thorang high Camp (4600m) 4-5 hrs

Today  walk leads closer to Thorang-la Pass as the walk progress crossing a bridge and then a climb along the  river, then leading at Thorung Phedi for lunch break  and then climb the last hour uphill to Thorang High Camp for overnight at High Camp.

 

Day 12: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (5416m) 9 - 810hrs

After spending the night at High camp we will try to get up early in the morning and try to start at 4am to catch a sunrise from top of the Thorong-La. This is the biggest day during our trekking. The Thorong-la is the biggest pass in world. After reaching the to take photograph and head down to Muktinath.  Muktinath a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberati. Explore the both Hindu and Buddhist tremple. Over night at Muktinath.

Day 13: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,715m) 5-6 hrs

We will have the breakfast and will proceed forward via Kagbeni village which is main gate of Upper Mustang(restricted area) The trail goes down to Jomsom. We can see beautiful cave hills trek continue  to Jomsom. Over night at Jomsom.

Day 14: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (823m) 30mins

After having breakfast early in the morning we will go to the Jomsom airport to fly towards the Pokhara city which takes only 30 minutes after scenic fly from Jomsom. After reach in the Pokhara then we will first check in  the hotels and have our lunch and go out to explore the Pokhara city. The whole day we will explore Pokhara city or take rest in the hotel. And we will spend one night in this city. 

Day 15: drive Kathmandu from Pokhara

After enjoying a marvelous time on high mountains and hills of Tilicho Lake. Annapurna circuit trek, after breakfast in the morning departs Pokhara with overland drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 16: Final departure

Our adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! A Journey Nepal Adventure representative will escort you to the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
