Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the popular trekking routes of the Annapurna region in Nepal. Trekking to base camp is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary trekking. It is 10th highest mountain in the world and the journey to its base camp and it is one of the beautiful treks in Annapurna region. The Poon Hill is the best view point in this route. Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts from the Pokhara city after 6/7 hours driving from the Kathmandu valley. It is a popular choice among diverse outdoor enthusiasts, from the solo female traveler hikers traveling in groups in Nepal. We head through the dense forest of rhododendron and forest by the narrow Modi Khola valley and the landscape we witness on the way warm our beating hearts. This region is a wonderful blend of the holy where Hinduism mingles with Buddhism and each life in the place an agreement with one another. The season between autumn and spring is the best season for doing on this route. While traveling in this route we will pass through the lush green Rhododendron and bamboo and alpine forest to the trips last and final destinations. The trekking lead by knowledgeable and  experience mountain guide.  While doing trekking in this route we see the mountain views which include Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchre and many other mountains.

Details Itinerary

Day 0 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

After arriving in Kathmandu, a representative from Journey Nepal Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to our hotel cheek in the Hotel.  After getting refresh and briefing about the trip.  Welcome dinner hosted by Journey Nepal Adventure. For dinner, you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara 860m (220 k.m., 6 hours)

Starting  Annapurna Base Camp Trek with a tourist bus drive on Nepal’s interesting highway to reach Pokhara, journey leads past many farms , villages and towns with views of mountains.

The drive finally ends on reaching Pokhara and transfer to hotel nearby beautiful Fewa lake and cheek in the Hotel.

Day 03:  Drive to Nayapul (trek point) with 4 hrs trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,440m

After breakfast one and half hour drive to Nayapul unto Bherethati cross the Modi river  from here walk begins through nice villages , farms and beautiful waterfalls,  genteel walk  then reaching at Tirkehdhunga for overnight stop in the comfort tea house/ lodge after a good day walks of 4 hours.

Day 04: Thikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,750m/9,020 ft): 4 - 5 hours trek

After breakfast, we ascend to the Ghorepani village. The name Ghorepani in Nepali means ‘horse-water’ due to it being an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker's stop. Ghorepani is an interesting place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and crafts. The town has two parts: one in a saddle and the other a few hundred feet lower. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri  Dhawalagiri mountains. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop, we begin to feel the chilly weather, especially in the evenings. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 05: Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m/8,860ft) with a visit to Poon Hill: 6 - 7 hours

To catch the sunrise over the Himalayas, we make an early morning climb along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3,210m/10,529ft), the most popular trekking destination of the Annapurna region. It is an also a great viewpoint to enjoy the amazing views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the highest mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The snowy peaks of the high mountains loom above and around us glowing in the morning light Annapurna Himalayan range including Dhaulagiri Mountain which is one of the high mountains among them. After taking photographs and having some coffee or tea or hot chocolate, we return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we head east and climb a nearby ridge. We descend through rhododendron forests, pass by spectacular waterfalls along the way and reach Tadapani to spend the night.

Day 06: Tadapani to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft): 6 hours trek

The trail starts off with a descent through a large rhododendron forest. The forest trail ends and our trail opens up to beautifully terraced fields. We walk uphill for around 5 km and pass waterfalls and reach a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are very common in the hilly and mountainous regions of Nepal. A few more miles of uphill and downhill trekking and we reach our destination for today, Chhomrong. It is a beautiful village right below the giant Annapurna massive. Overnight in Chhomrong.

Day 07: Trek from Chhomrong to Himalaya (2,920 m., 6 hours).

This day trekking trail follows Chhomrong River and ascends for some elevation.  On the route, we cross through rhododendron forest and reach Donovan.  The picturesque view of the natural beauty follows us while we trek.  Remaining afternoon and trek continue to Himalaya Hotel. We spend a night at Himalaya Hotel.

Day 08: Trek from Himalaya Hotel to Annapurna Base Camp – ABC (4,130 m., 6 hours).

After having your hot breakfast, the trekking trail continues to Annapurna Base Camp.  The area is known as Annapurna Sanctuary which is covered with lofty mountains. The area gives an astonishing view of Annapurna I, Annapurna South and Barah Shikhar. We spend night in a guest house dined with potato soup and traditional Gurung bread which is specially for preventing from effects of cold. Overnight at Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 09: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,050 m., 6 hours)

After a grand time at Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp, morning walk on the downhill path all the way to Deurali, then with few ups and downs with gradual winding trail in the serene forest and back to the tree lines to Bamboo for the overnight stay.

Day 10: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda via Chhomrong (1,700 m ., 6 hours).

From here a short steep up to Khuldi Ghar, then on the winding downhill path

Through the dense forest to Sinuwa danda.  From here, walk descends to Chomrong Khola.  After the bridge, an uphill walk for less than an hour reaching at Chomrong village for rest stop or lunch, after Chomrong with another up for half hour to the top of Chomrong ridge, then our route descends to Jhinu Danda, for overnight stay, this place offers refreshing Natural  hot springs just 20 minutes walk downhill nearby Modi River.

Day 11: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Nayapul, then take a ride back to Pokhara (4 hours hiking and one hour drive).

This is the final day of our trekking.  We trek to Nayapul from Jhinu Danda and end our trek there.  We drive back to Pokhara and explore the beauty of it.  You might be interested in climbing to Sarangkot hill which is famous for adventurous paragliding sport.  Explore Pokhara City and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu.

After enjoying a marvelous time on high mountains and hills of Annapurna Himal, after breakfast in the morning depart Pokhara with overland drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 13: Final departure

Our adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! A Journey Nepal Adventure representative will escort us to the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
