Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is short hiking part of the Annapurna region. It is one of our special trek packages that take you to the foothills of famous Annapurna amidst the rugged hills of Ghandruk. This is one of the best treks in the entire Himalayan for a great trekking experience and views of awesome peaks. The trek takes place at the base of the Annapurna foothills with box office vantage points on poon hills where we get to behold some of the most well-known peaks in the world. During the time of trekking, we will pass beautiful villages of Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek starts from Nayapul after one hour drive from Pokhara. While doing trekking in this region we will pass through the lowland villages and mountains communities will expose you to the variety of culture and traditions of the Gurung, Magar, Chhetri, and Brahan people and much more discover one thing in this trekking route in Nepal. While passing through this trekking route we get into the Rhododendron forest full of birds and imaging valleys make your trips more enjoyable. This trip Organized by over 15 years Experience Mountain guide Team. The key attraction of this trekking is the Gurung culture museum at Ghandruk village. From the top of the Poon hill, we see many wonderful views of mountains which include Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchre and many other mountains. The season between March t May and September to November is the best season for doing this trekking. You can see the extreme views of sunrise from the top of Poon Hill.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara

Day 03: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1400m.) 4 hrs

Day 04: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850m) 6 hrs

Day 05: Ghorepani to Tadapani (2650m) 6 hrs

Day 06: Tadapni to Ghandruk (1940m) 4 hrs

Day 07: Ghandruk to Nayapul drive back to Pokhara. 7 hrs

Day 08: Pokhara to Kathmandu.

Day 09: Final departure.

Details Itinerary

Day 0 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

After arriving in Kathmandu, a representative from Journey Nepal Adventure will pick you up from the airport and take you to our hotel cheek in the Hotel.  After getting refresh and briefing about the trip.  Welcome dinner hosted by Journey Nepal Adventure. For dinner, you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara 860m (220 k.m., 6 hours)

Starting  Ghorepani Poonhill Trek with a tourist bus drive on Nepal’s interesting highway to reach Pokhara, the journey leads past many farms, villages, and towns with views of mountains.

The drive finally ends on reaching Pokhara and transfer to a hotel nearby beautiful Fewa lake and cheek in the Hotel.

Day 03:  Drive to Nayapul (trek point) with 4 hrs trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,440m

After breakfast one and half hour drive to Nayapul unto Bherethati cross the Modi river from here walk begins through nice villages, farms and beautiful waterfalls,  genteel walk then reaching at Tirkehdhunga for an overnight stop in the comfort tea house/ lodge after a good day walks of 4 hours.

Day 04: Thikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,750m/9,020 ft): 4 - 5 hours trek

After breakfast, we ascend to the Ghorepani village. The name Ghorepani in Nepali means ‘horse-water’ due to it being an important campsite for traders before it became a trekker's stop. Ghorepani is an interesting place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and crafts. The town has two parts: one in a saddle and the other a few hundred feet lower. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri  Dhawalagiri mountains. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop, we begin to feel the chilly weather especially in the evenings. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 05:Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,700m/8,860ft) with a visit to Poon Hill: 6 - 7 hours

To catch the sunrise over the Himalayas, we make an early morning climb along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3,210m/10,529ft), the most popular trekking destination of the Annapurna region. It is an also a great viewpoint to enjoy the amazing views of Mustang, Pokhara and more than 20 of the highest mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The snowy peaks of the high mountains loom above and around us glowing in the morning light Annapurna Himalayan range including Dawalagiri Mountain which is one of the high mountain among them. After taking photographs and having some coffee or tea or hot chocolate, we return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast, we head east and climb a nearby ridge. We descend through rhododendron forests, pass by spectacular waterfalls along the way and reach Tadapani to spend the night.

Day 06: Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m) – 4 Hours

Today’s our destination to Ghandruk village  (This is a biggest and most beautiful gurung village of Annapurna Region ). It will be an easy walk for us as we need to trek downhill. We will be walking on the forest of rhododendron. Passing through beautiful waterfalls we continue our walk until and unless we will reach Ghandruk for spending time in Ghanduk with local culture Museum, watch the documentary in ACAP office over night at Ghandru.

Day 07: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul (1010m) and drive to Pokhara

 This is the final day of our trekking.  We trek to Nayapul from Ghandruk Village and end our trek there.  We drive back to Pokhara and explore the beauty of it.  You might be interested in climbing to Sarangkot hill which is famous for adventurous paragliding sport.  Explore Pokhara City and overnight stay in a hotel.

 Day 08: Pokhara to Kathmandu.

After enjoying a marvelous time on high mountains and hills of Annapurna Himal, after breakfast in the morning departs Pokhara with the overland drive back to Kathmandu.

 Day 09: Final Departure:

 Our adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! A Journey Nepal Adventure representative will escort you to the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way home, you have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
